The 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was hosted by Uganda in its capital city, Kampala, from January 15 to 20, 2024.
The summit convened under the theme "Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence" and saw participation from approximately 90 of the 120 member states, including 30 heads of state.
This gathering marked the first time since 2009 that a NAM summit was held in Africa and the first since 1998 in Sub-Saharan Africa.
During the summit, many delegations strongly criticized Israel's actions during the Israel-Hamas conflict. Additionally, Uganda assumed the chairmanship of NAM for the 2024–2027 term.
